Fundamentals of Personal Computers
This one-day training course is aimed at participants who may have little or no understanding of personal computers but need to interact with them in a work setting such as logging reports or retrieving documentation from management applications. In such cases, specific training on the management application is incorporated in the training material.
The basic training structure includes:
- Introduction to computers and why they are so common today.
- Components of a personal computer - participants learn the about the hardware in a pc including the microprocessor, motherboard, hard drive, RAM, & power supply.
- Using the Mouse and Keyboard.
- Operating Systems - participants are introduced to the role of the operating system including Windows (XP, 7, & 8), Android, Linux, & iOs.
- Windows Basics - how startup and shut-down works; the role of windows in running multiple applications, maximising & minimising windows.
- Common Types of Software Applications - discusses role of common applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint and database applications such as Access.
- Networking and Internet basics - the role of a network and the advantages of using a server; how the internet works as a world-wide network.
- Networked Database Applications in work - how they operate and their advantages.
The workshop training features a mix of engaging presentations and hands-on exercises. All participants are provided with a detailed training manual covering the material covered in the workshop.
